Columbia Area Transit Bus Service Expansion

Columbia Area Transit (CAT) is expanding its bus service from Hood River to Government Camp. CAT currently runs bus service within the city of Hood River and from Hood River to The Dalles, the Upper Valley, Cascade Locks, and Portland. This expansion of service to Government Camp will allow increased transit access for residents and tourists travelling to Mt. Hood for work, school, or play.

Help us plan for our expansion!

CAT anticipates that expanded service will begin in Fall of 2019, but to make this expansion a success we need your help. This spring, the project team is gathering input about travel needs and experiences to improve transit access to destinations between Hood River and Government Camp.

We want to know what you think about:

  • Where you travel in the study area
  • Where the bus should stop

Take our survey before April 30, 2019 to let us know your thoughts.

Goals of the CAT expansion:

  • Improve transit access for commuters travelling to work places between Hood River and Mt. Hood
  • Improve transit access for tourists travelling to recreational locations on or near Mt. Hood including the Fruit Loop, trailheads, and ski resorts
  • Protect natural and cultural resources by supporting lower impact access to Mt. Hood and the Fruit Loop.
